Chicago

I saw the South African production of Chicago this evening with Liza. It was fantastic. I was impressed with the dancing, singing and music. My only criticism, which I agree with Liza, is that it had a high sleaze factor, as far as some of the costumes and dancing went. But, hey… Sex sells!!

Not sure if I prefer the theatrical version to the movie one, but I think it would have swung it towards the theatrical version if we were sitting closer to the stage, as from our seats, we couldn’t really see the performer’s facial expressions.

Chicago isn’t Chicago without the sleaze factor. Then it’s just Oklahoma or Iowa or something…

Ang and I also went to see Chicago up here in Joburg. It was pretty cool because for the first half of the show we sat quite far back. The house was only half full, so after intermission we sat in the fourth row from the front – just marched in there at sat in the empty seats like we belonged there.
Sitting at the back has the advantages of allowing you to fully appreciate the choreography, something that is lost on you when it’s right in your face up front.
But yes, you can’t see the facial expressions too well from way back.
